Shapouri Pavilion & Garden

Welcome

About The Collection

Shapouri House is a two-story building with an area of 840 square meters built in a garden of 4635 meters. This complex is located in the central area of Shiraz, in the old neighborhood known as Anvari. This house belongs to Mr. Abdul Saheb Shapouri and was designed and built by Professor Abolghasem Al-Mahdi in the years 1310 to 1315 AH, which was designed with a free approach to architecture in those years.

Unique Features Of The Estate

The features that distinguish this building from other buildings of its time are: Access to the building is not from the main axis and is done with a 90-degree change from the side (northern side). In this building, like other Iranian gardens, it is symmetrical to the main axis, but the type of trees and their placement are not symmetrical. In the Shapouri Mansion, after passing through the entrance of the mansion, in the middle of the building, the staircase in the middle is another distinctive architectural design of this building that is not seen in buildings of its time. Another innovation of this architect is assigning a specific function to each room, and the multifunctionality of the rooms, as was common in the past, is no longer seen. Adding a balcony to the building, which has no place in Iranian architecture, is another architectural feature of the Shapouri Mansion. The symmetrical placement of 14 columns, with unique decorations around the balcony, gives this space a special identity and brings this creative initiative to its peak. Also, the Sleeping Spring, which is a summer resting place, has a balcony and a main balcony column.
